Design and elaboration of bamboo products – Yamango, Piura
In one of the E.U. Monitoring visits, during a pause I started talking to a lady in front of her hause. I asked about the weaving technique like the waist loom widely known in all the Andes. I was surprised to know that they were expert weavers, she tooked showed me the “morral” she made for her little son as a school bag. She also took me to her neighbor´s hause, beautiful grandma sitting on the floor making a big piece of Art.
She shared that her son didn´t want to use his “morral” , he wanted a plastic, Power Ranger back pack with tiny wheels.
We talked about the value of her work, perhaps a target audience could be urban women or young people who need to carry their Lap-Tops with them. I asked permission to take it just for some days. I went back after a couple of months and with small modifications the “morral” turned into a purse with bamboo buttons. This is a new posibility for women to have their own business. Happily she loved it.
